Jonathan Miller’s landmark production of Verdi’s revenge tragedy returns to the London Coliseum, as internationally renowned baritone Alan Opie reprises his role as the ‘magnificently bitter Rigoletto’ (The Times). In this triumphant updating, Mafia-controlled Little Italy, New York, provides the backdrop to a tale of lust, deceit and retribution. Leading British tenor Peter Auty and the mesmerising Judith Howarth join Opie, while the talented young conductor Alexander Briger takes on the intensely melodic score. As poignant as ever, this popular company revival ‘packs a powerful punch’ (Evening Standard).
