London Theatre News and Blogs | West End News

When you think of the infamous West End, whether you’re visiting London or you’ve lived here all your life, you think of glamour and lights. Well, The Rat Pack offer you an insight into true showbiz, but you won’t be thinking of London for long as they will transport you to the smoky atmosphere of classic Las Vegas. If you’re unaware of the Rat Pack, then know it is made up of three of the biggest entertainers in show business, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin.

The Rat Pack – Live from Las Vegas showcases some of the nation's favourite entertainers from an era where sparkly costumes and dinner suites went hand-in-hand with incredibly talented performers. Set in the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, and featuring actors playing Frank Sinatra, Samuel Davis Jr and Dean Martin, the audience was treated to some wonderful renditions of songs like “Amore” and “New York, New York”.

The Olivier Award winning circus cabaret La Soirée brings the weird and the wonderful to The Aldwych Theatre; with flipping duos, singing stand up and a spinning contortionist it is a raucous night out.

I am still humming, singing and grinning after watching an epic performance of 42nd Street at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. This brilliant show brightens up these cold and dark days- and I'm not just talking about the January weather. And that's another impact-it has made me attempt to write smart wisecracks, which sadly do not reflect the clever and witty one-liners in 42nd Street's script and lyrics.

New Year, same old you? Except perhaps a little groggy and a few pounds heavier, thanks to the holiday season. Yeah, you’ve got January blues, but we’ve got just the thing to help you shake it off.

Running strictly for a 12-week limited period and set in the atmospheric Charing Cross Theatre, The Woman in White is showing off its gothic side in a wonderfully intimate space. This is the premiere of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s and David Zippel’s, albeit reread and revised, score. The set is masterfully simple and the singing, together with the harmonies, are sublime. Don’t be fooled into thinking you are in for an easy, peaceful night at the theatre, there will be lots of jumping in your seat. If you have a slightly nervy disposition, make sure you have someone to hang onto!

Oscar winning American actor Cuba Gooding Jr. is set to star as fast-talking, fast-footed lawyer Billy Flynn in the West End revival of Chicago.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie has extended its run at the Apollo Theatre. The show has announced a new booking period from Friday, January 12th, 2018 to Saturday, October 6th, 2018.

The Grinning Man has announced an extension of its run at Trafalgar Studios until 14 April, 2018.

As Annie rapidly approaches the end of its scheduled run at the Piccadilly Theatre, it has been announced that new members of the kids cast will join the show for its last month of shows.
